A bold ambition for excellent cancer control for all citizens in Europe

Economist Impact’s  9th Annual World Cancer Series: Europe is taking place in Brussels this September. The two-day summit features over 90 speakers and welcomes an audience representing policymakers, healthcare providers, industry leaders, academics, patient groups and investors.

The 2023 agenda will build on last year’s themes of innovation, equity and excellence, which lie at the heart of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. As the plan is implemented, it’s time to take stock and ask how the reality of cancer care in the region aligns with targets. The summit will identify successes and identify what still needs attention. It will increase momentum towards achieving the plan’s objectives.

Within this context, speakers will consider the investment landscape for cancer care and innovation in cancer prevention, research and treatment. There will be a specific focus on lung cancer and women’s cancers, and a session on the changes in Health Technology Assessment across Europe.

The Economist’s health editorial team will bring their unique perspective on macroeconomic policy, regulation and public policy in relation to cancer care. Discussions will focus on the personal—what will the interventions and initiatives featured in these sessions mean for people in Europe?

EUCOPE’s Alexander Natz will speak on 21 September in the panel: The impact of European Health Technology Assessment (HTA) regulation
